Two riders have been named as potential replacements for Toprak Razgatlioglu at the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
According to recent reports, BMW have its sights set on two riders who could potentially replace Toprak Razgatlioglu for 2026.
Razgatlioglu has been open about his desire to leave World Superbikes to land a MotoGP ride for 2026. There has been reported interest from Honda and Yamaha for the two-time World Superbike Champion, but no agreements have been made.
This has led BMW to search for other options for next season if their number one rider does end up leaving.
GPOne have reported that at the Italian World Superbike Round, BMW officials met with two riders and discussed a potential contract for 2026.
The riders in question are Aruba.it Racing - Ducati rider, Nicolo Bulega and Pata Maxus Yamaha rider, Andrea Locatelli.
BMW boss Sven Blusch spoke with Bulega’s manager Alberto Martinelli, and Locatelli’s manager Yuri Danesi, the report claims.
Both of the Italians will be out of contract at the conclusion of the 2025 World Superbike Championship. However, Bulega is open to remaining with Ducati next season, but his negotiations with the Italian manufacturer have reached a stalemate.
Bulega has been Razgatlioglu's main title rival in 2024 and 2025. So far this season, the Italian has won seven races out of a potential 12 and leads the standings by 34 points.
Locatelli caught BMW's attention after he took victory at the Dutch World Superbike Round at the TT Circuit Assen.
The 28-year-old currently sits fourth in the 2025 World Superbike Championship and is 69 points ahead of the next best Yamaha rider, who is in 11th place.
BMW would still love to keep Razgatlioglu, and it has been suggested that the rider's communication with MotoGP teams could end if he is given a big-money offer from BMW to stay put.
