Despite qualifying on pole position, Fabio Quartararo's hopes for the Silverstone Sprint Race are not too high.
Fabio Quartararo continued his impressive Qualifying form at the British Grand Prix, the French rider has secured pole position at the last three Grand Prix.
At the Spanish Grand Prix, he returned to pole position for the first time since the 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix. He then backed up his pace at his home Grand Prix at Le Mans, where he was also able to claim pole.
After showing impressive pace on Friday at Silverstone, it was possible that he would be on pole for the British Grand Prix, but not expected.
However, in his penultimate lap of the session, he was able to go 0.309 seconds quicker than the rest of the field and set a new all-time lap record at the Silverstone Circuit.
"Yes I am really happy," Quartararo told TNT Sports after the MotoGP Qualifying session at Silverstone.
"To be honest, the goal was to be in the top five, especially after the first run, I did not feel too great with the grip. In the second run, I pushed a lot, and it was an amazing lap, and I am super happy to be on pole.
Despite his strong Qualifying performances, Quartararo has yet to be able to benefit in the MotoGP Sprint Races on Saturday afternoon.
The 26-year-old failed to finish the Sprint at Jerez after crashing, and then finished fourth at his home circuit.
Even though he is aiming for a great result at the British Grand Prix, Quartararo was honest and admitted that his 'pace is still weak'.
"Even though we are getting faster and faster in Qualifying, our pace is still weak," Quartararo said when asked about the Sprint Race.
"It is good, but we have had some issues with the tyres, and like I said, I will try my best to make a great result today."
