Toprak Razgatlioglu reveals several issues he managed during Race One at Misano

Gold & Goose

Despite suffering with issues, Toprak Razgatlioglu was able to secure victory for BMW in Race One at Misano.

The opening race of the weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli looked easy for Toprak Razgatlioglu.

However, after beating his title rival, Nicolo Bulega, by over a second, he revealed that he had been managing several issues with his BMW M1000RR during the race.

"The race was not easy, especially the first lap," Razgatlioglu told TNT Sports after the opening race of the weekend.

"I went wide because when I braked, the rear went up and down, and I went wide. We had a bit of an engine brake problem. After that issue, I was able to come back quite quickly.

"I was pushing so hard, the tyres started to drop, especially the front tyre, which was losing a lot of grip. I almost crashed at Turn Three, but I was just focused on P1.

"I never gave up, and during the last laps I was riding very well. Finally, we got P1, which is important for me. I am really happy, but we have two more races tomorrow, I hope we win again."

Razgatlioglu was questioned on the differences between the BMW and the Ducati in Race One. However, the Turkish rider stated he was 'focused' on his own issues rather than the Ducati.

"I don't know," he said when asked about the difference between his bike and the Ducati.

"But I am sliding a lot and I have a lot of chatter, I am losing the front, but I am just trying to manage it. I needed to win the race, so I was only focused on that."

Ahead of the Superpole Race and Race Two on Sunday, the two-time World Superbike Champion has called for solutions to his problems.

"I need more grip," he explained.

"We also need to change the engine brake because the bike is not stopping. This is my biggest problem. Also, I was losing acceleration. I hope we can improve something, maybe tomorrow I will be a little bit stronger."
