Scott Ogden finished the Italian Grand Prix in 12th place despite a positive Friday and Saturday at Mugello.
The Italian Grand Prix had been a positive weekend for Scott Ogden after a strong showing on Friday and Saturday.
However, a difficult race on Sunday saw the British rider inside the fight at the front, but late contact caused him to miss out on a top ten finish.
Across Practice and Qualifying, the 21-year-old had shown strong pace after ending Friday in sixth, topping Free Practice Three on Saturday morning, and then qualifying in third.
The start of the Moto3 Grand Prix was promising for Ogden as he was in the podium battle with the Red Bull KTM Ajo riders.
But the race became more difficult as the front group featured 20 riders, and a slower pace than what was expected due to constant battles.
Late contact with Nicola Carraro forced Ogden out of the front fight and left him in 12th place on the final lap and across the line.
"First of all, I want to thank the entire CIP GREEN POWER team, because we really had a great weekend," Ogden said after the Italian Grand Prix.
"We were at the front from start to finish. I had a good first laps, I was able to fight at the front and make up some positions.
"But yes, it was a difficult race, in a big group, and the pace was very slow. I'm still very happy to have set the third fastest time in the race, because it shows that we have the speed, even in the pack.
"On the last lap, I had contact with another rider, which made me lose places. We should have finished 7th or 8th, but in the end it was a race that taught us a lot.
"I think we proved that we have the speed to be at the front."
After nine race weekends, Ogden remains in 17th in the Championship standings and has featured inside the points across the last six races.
