Due to suffering from a high fever, Enea Bastianini may be forced to withdraw from this weekend's German Grand Prix.

Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini is a doubt for this weekend's German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring after suffering from a high fever.

The French team have confirmed that the Italian rider has been unwell for several days and has been too ill to travel to the German circuit.

Bastianini will miss his media duties on Thursday and will need to recover throughout the day if he is going to participate in the German Grand Prix this weekend.

"Since the start of the week, Enea Bastianini has been feeling unwell, as he has been going through some high fevers," read a Tech3 statement.

"Although we had hoped that he would feel better as the days went by, we were informed this morning that Enea is still feeling sick, and he is unable to travel to Sachsenring, for now. He will not be at the track today.

"The team will send further updates on Enea’s health later in the day."

Bastianini had a breakthrough result at the Dutch TT last time out as he finished inside the top ten for the fourth time across the 10 Rounds so far this season.

If Bastianini does withdraw from this weekend's German Grand Prix, he could be replaced by either Pol Espargaro or Dani Pedrosa, KTM's Test Riders.

Neither of the Spaniards have racing experience this season outside of tests, as the Austrian manufacturer has not used any of its wildcards as of yet.
