'When I was pushing I felt safer' - Marc Marquez explains his domination at the Sachsenring

Gold & Goose

Marc Marquez returned to winning ways around the Sachsenring as he mastered the difficult conditions that others struggled with.

The 2025 German Grand Prix had one overwhelming storyline as Marc Marquez returned to winning ways at his favourite circuit.

After winning 11 German Grand Prix in a row between 2010 and 2021, the Spaniard had become the 'King of the Sachsenring', but he had been in a dry spell around his favourite circuit.

But now with the factory Ducati squad, Marquez dominated proceedings as he was victorious in the Sprint Race and the Grand Prix.

"Today, I had extra concentration," Marquez told MotoGP.com after winning at the Sachsenring for the first time since 2021.

"It was like in Austin, but of course, in Austin, I was coming off two victories in a row, but here I was coming off the back of three victories in a row.

"I knew that the Sachsenring was one of my circuits, and I tried to do a perfect weekend. I did, we did, the team worked in a very good way.

"From that point, I just tried to manage the race; it was difficult to understand how to push. When I was pushing, I felt more safe, but when I slowed down, I felt unsafe.

"So, I decided to keep pushing for all of the race."

The 2025 German Grand Prix saw only ten riders finish the race, after eight had crashed out throughout the 30-lap race.

Marquez went on to state that he was 'flowing' around the circuit as he managed the conditions beneath him.

"First of all, I tried to understand the front tyre and the grip of the track," he explained.

"After the wet conditions, the grip levels are really low, and they were very low. But I was able to manage it well, and today I was flowing."

After 11 rounds of the 2025 season, Marquez leads the MotoGP Championship by 83 points. But with 11 rounds remaining, the eight-time World Champion insists that he must stay 'focused'.

"I am feeling super good," he added.

"But we are halfway through the Championship. Exactly in the middle of the Championship, there are still 11 races to go, and there will be many races in a row.

"We need to keep focused, because with pressure and ambition I work better."
