After a heavy Qualifying crash at the Sachsenring, Maverick Vinales has undergone surgery to deal with a fractured collarbone.
It has been confirmed by Red Bull KTM Tech3 that Maverick Vinales has undergone successful surgery on his left shoulder following his Qualifying crash at the German Grand Prix.
The Spaniard crashed on his out lap in the second Qualifying session on Saturday after progressing through from the first Qualifying session moments before.
Vinales initially dislocated his left shoulder, which was repositioned at the circuit, before he was taken to the hospital for further checks.
The further checks revealed a fracture to his left collarbone, which saw him declared unfit for the remainder of the weekend at the Sachsenring.
It was later confirmed on Sunday that Vinales would undergo surgery and would not participate in next week's Czech Republic Grand Prix.
In a brief statement that was released on Monday morning, Tech3 confirmed that Vinales' operation was a success.
"Left with a fractured left shoulder following his Q2 crash at the German GP, Maverick Vinales travelled to Italy on Sunday morning to get surgery in order to speed up the recovery process," Tech3 said.
"Everything went smoothly, and the Spaniard is now back home, already fully focused on his recovery.
"He will do everything he can to be back as soon as possible with the team, but Maverick will miss the Grand Prix of Czechia this week."
It is yet to be seen if Vinales' Tech3 teammate, Enea Bastianini, will be at Brno after missing the German Grand Prix with appendicitis.
Tech3 have the option to replace Vinales with the current KTM test rider and former Grand Prix rider, Pol Espargaro, at Brno.
