Honda Racing UK had a 'painful end' to the weekend at Brands Hatch

The fifth round of the 2025 British Superbike Championship had a disappointing end for the Honda Racing UK squad at Brands Hatch.

It was a difficult Sunday for the Honda Racing UK squad at Brands Hatch, after a promising start for the squad on Saturday.

On Saturday, Tommy Bridewell finished sixth in the opening race of the weekend with his teammate, Andrew Irwin, just outside of the top ten in 11th.

The weekend became more difficult for Bridewell after he high-sided out of the final corner at Brands Hatch. Bridewell was then taken to the medical centre and decided to withdraw from the final race of the weekend.

"It was a painful end to a disappointing weekend," Bridewell said after the Brands Hatch British Superbike round.

"I’m taking a lot of chances on the bike at the moment because the gap between us and the fastest guys isn’t getting any smaller, no matter what we do.

"It’s massively frustrating, there’s very little else to say about where we are currently, but we will keep working to find a solution."

Irwin's Race Two was different compared to Bridewell, as he went on to finish the race in seventh place, before suffering a massive high side in Race Three; luckily, he was able to escape any injuries.

"The weekend was going entirely to plan," Irwin said after a huge highside in Race Three.

"We were building off the back of finishing all three races at Knockhill and just chipping away at lap times and letting the lap times and the results come to us.

"In the third race, I felt completely comfortable in sixth place. I was in the lead pack and just looking to see what sort of opportunity might arise when out of nowhere, so it seemed, I was suddenly thrown quite a long way up off the bike, which was totally destroyed. It’s a big disappointment."
