Diogo Moreira is set to put pen to paper with the Honda Racing Corporation to make his MotoGP debut in 2026.
At the Austrian Grand Prix, it was reported by Sky Sports Italia that Diogo Moreira had two MotoGP options for the 2026 season.
It was believed that the Brazilian had two three-year contracts on his table from Prima Pramac Yamaha and Honda Racing Corporation.
The most notable detail from Moreira's offer from HRC was that he would spend 2026 with LCR Honda before being promoted to the factory team for 2027 and 2028.
Ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, it is now being reported by Motorsport.com that Moreira has made his decision for his rookie season in the MotoGP World Championship.
According to the media outlet, Moreira has decided to sign with the Honda Racing Corporation and the deal is expected to be completed at this weekend's Grand Prix at Balaton Park.
It is still expected that the deal will span three years, with one year in LCR, so Moreira can gain experience in the premier class before taking the step into the factory HRC garage for 2027 with the new technical regulations.
This deal will have stunned Yamaha, who appeared to be leading the race to sign the young Brazilian, but has been beaten by their rival Japanese manufacturer in recent days.
If Moreira has signed with LCR Honda for the 2026 season, he will replace Thai rider Somkiat Chantra, who has had a difficult rookie MotoGP season on the RC213V.
Motorsport.com have also reported that with Chantra on his way out of LCR, they will lose their sponsorship with the Japanese petroleum company Idemitsu, as they have been involved since 2018 when LCR opened a pathway for Asian riders in the premier class.
