Marc Marquez became the first MotoGP rider to claim pole position at the new Balaton Park Circuit.
For the eighth time in the 2025 MotoGP season, Marc Marquez will start from pole position. However, his pole at Balaton Park makes him the first MotoGP rider to qualify on pole at the new circuit.
After achieving the goal, the Spaniard was happy as he was targeting a front row start, so a pole position exceeded his expectations.
However, his mindset had already switched from claiming pole position to targeting a positive result in the Sprint Race on Saturday afternoon.
"I am happy, happy because it is not an easy track to do a time attack," Marquez told TNT Sports after Qualifying.
"There are a lot of hard braking points, and it is difficult to understand where the limit is. Because every time you put in a new tyre, you find a new limit, and a new limit, and you go a bit more, and a bit more.
"I am happy, my main target was the front row, and we did it. Now the main target will be the start and the first corner, if we are at the front it will be easier."
Marquez went on to discuss how he expects the Sprint Race to be a challenge, as Balaton Park does not have many overtaking zones.
But he still expects fierce challenges from the riders around him on the grid in the Sprint and Grand Prix.
"We need to understand in the Sprint Race how difficult it is to overtake," he explained.
"The fact is, the slipstreams are not very important, but they are at the braking points. It will make life a bit difficult for the guys who are behind.
"But MotoGP is MotoGP, these are the best riders in the world, so they can overtake at every corner."
