In two weeks, Takaaki Nakagami will be back on track as he is set to wildcard at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Takaaki Nakagami last stepped in for Honda as a replacement rider in the LCR Honda IDEMITSU at the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
However, it was at the Automotodrom Brno that the Japanese rider sustained a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee in a heavy crash in the Sprint Race. Nakagami crashed on the second lap of the Sprint with Augusto Fernandez and returned to Japan to recover.
Since July, Nakagami has not wildcarded for HRC since the crash, with Aleix Espargaro recently participating in wildcards for the Japanese manufacturer in Europe.
But the 33-year-old will return to track action at the end of the month as he is set to wildcard at the Japanese Grand Prix in two weeks.
"To give the home fans an extra reason to cheer, Takaaki Nakagami will return as a wildcard rider on the Honda RC213V at the Japanese GP," HRC said on its Instagram account.
The Japanese Grand Prix will mark Nakagami's official return to a race weekend, but he has participated in a private test at Motegi a few days ago to reacquaint himself with the RC213V.
This will be Nakagami's fourth appearance in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship, following on from his appearances at the French, Italian and Czech Republic Grands Prix.
