'I gave it my best shot' - Jake Dixon had an unexpectedly difficult weekend in Indonesia

Gold & Goose

Jake Dixon went from a podium at Motegi to a disappointing weekend at the Mandalika International Street Circuit.

After featuring on the podium at the Japanese Grand Prix, Jake Dixon scraped his way into the top ten at the Indonesian Grand Prix a week later.

The British rider's weekend started in a strong way as he was in fifth place on Friday afternoon in the Moto2 Practice session. He then qualified on the third row of the grid in eighth place, but crossed the line in tenth place at the end of the Grand Prix.

Dixon was able to benefit from crashes for the CFMOTO Gaviota Team riders, Daniel Holgado and David Alonso, who were ahead of him. Then, after the race, Dixon was promoted from tenth place to ninth after Manuel Gonzalez was disqualified.

With four rounds left of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship, Dixon will be hoping his time in the Grand Prix paddock will end with further success.

"Ninth isn’t the result we were expecting, and it’s nothing to write home about," Dixon said.

"I gave my absolute everything. But I just didn’t have a great feeling when I was trying to stop the bike today. I tried to make progress early on, but the speed just wasn’t there.

"I gave it my best shot and didn’t really have much more to give. There’s not much more to say. It’s a shame, as I was hoping we’d be fighting higher up today.

"We’ll reset now, go again and see what we can do in the next race in Australia."
