Adrian Fernandez has been disqualified from the Malaysian Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

Adrian Fernandez has been removed from the podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix, two weeks after the race took place.

The MotoGP stewards have changed the results from the Moto3 Grand Prix at Malaysia from two weeks ago, as Adrian Fernandez has been disqualified.

Fernandez found himself on the podium at the Malaysian Grand Prix, as he finished in third place for the Leopard Racing squad.

However, due to a technical infringement, the Spaniard has lost out on his fourth podium of the season, but still remains in seventh place in the Moto3 World Championship.

Ahead of this weekend’s Portuguese Grand Prix, the FIM stewards have announced that Fernandez’s bike failed a post-race technical check.

According to the stewards, he was found to have been using a 'non-homologated' electronics map. Due to this, he has been disqualified from the 20th Grand Prix of the season.

This decision has promoted Fernandez's Leopard Racing teammate, David Almansa, to his maiden Grand Prix podium as he now stands in third place in the official results.

The Leopard Racing squad can appeal the MotoGP stewards' decision, but it is currently unclear whether they will decide to do so.

With Fernandez's disqualification, it has had ramifications further down the order as British rider Scott Ogden has been promoted from eighth to seventh, which is his best result of the season with the CIP Green Power squad.

Fellow British rider Eddie O'Shea has also been moved up the order from 15th place to 14th, and now picks up two points from the Malaysian Grand Prix.
