Michelin are having another disastrous weekend at the Brno MotoGP round with none of their riders performing at anywhere near their potential in either wet or dry conditions.

And such names as Jorge Lorenzo have not been shy in their criticsm of the French firm – especially as James Toseland and Lorenzo did not officially qualify, and Randy de Puniet was their highest-paced man in seventh. And he crashed.

Lorenzo said: "I have had days almost as bad as this before, but I have to say that the fault is not all mine. I think that it is evident at the moment that our tyres are not working as they should.

"I am a professional however and I have to wait and have confidence in Michelin to find the right way forward. For tomorrow it’s going to be important to get a good start and try to get in the top ten. The surface is very good but we don’t have the grip we need, so whatever happens with the weather, it will be very hard.”
Tech3 Yamaha's Colin Edwards added: "I started the session on a rear tyre that was probably too hard but we needed to get out and get some information for Michelin. By the time I’d put the softer tyre in the rain was unbelievable.
"That didn’t help my situation but I’m not sure I could have improved a lot more if the rain was less and it would have been easy to take too many risks and crash. But it was a bit like Germany a few weeks ago when I had a few issues in the wet race. I was just trying to find consistent grip that gave me the confidence to push and I was lacking in that area." 
Bridgestone, meanwhile, are rubbing their hands as Stoner leads an all-Japanese tyre front and second row, which features riders from five different teams and manufacturers.
Tohru Ubukata, Bridgestone Motorsport Manager, said: “Naturally, we are very pleased with the qualifying results today and the performance of our wet weather tyres during the course of the day. This top six is our best ever qualifying result and there were some very pleasing individual results with our riders, especially Casey who has taken his sixth pole position in a row after another impressive session. It is a pleasure to see John back on the front row, while Alex, Anthony and Shinya have also taken their best grid positions of the season in a very difficult wet session.”
