Reigning MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner has said he believes the speed gap between prototypes and the production-based CRT machines is too large and likens it to running touring cars in the same race as Formula One.

Stoner's outburst came after he clashed with Danilo Petrucci during today's second qualifying session where the forthright Aussie was seen to bang elbows with the Italian. Stoner explained that he had passed the Ioda Racing rider three corners before but then Petrucci decided to have a go back on the brakes.

"I went up the inside of him and completely passed him into one corner, then he broke completely round the outside of me, destroyed my lap. It wasn't necessary, it's a practice session not a race. I was a little bit disappointed, I've been impressed with his results and his effort this year and he goes and completely destroys a lap of mine when I have overtaken him," said Stoner, speaking to bikesportnews.com

"I was a little bit pissed off to be honest. When he comes out of the corner he stays in one gear and hits the limiter and then I nearly hit the back of him again. It was a little bit annoying.

“I didn’t push him off the track. I just didn’t give him a lot of room and needed him to back off and give me my space. He didn’t do that three corners before. The dangerous thing is the CRT bikes, to be honest, you come up on them faster than you do a Moto2 bike, it's ridiculous. At least with Moto2 they have a bit of corner speed. You shouldn't have these types of bike on track.

"It's like F1 racing with touring cars. It was a practice session not a race. I wasn't going to hold him up but he held me up, so it was a bit frustrating. This isn't a game. We saw it wasn't a game last year and people need to realise this."
