Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa cruised to victory in today's Aragon MotoGP race, finishing six seconds ahead of title rival Jorge Lorenzo while Cal Crutchlow was just kept off the pdoium by team-mare Andrea Dovizioso.
In what turned out to be a somewhat dull affair, Lorenzo and Pedrosa, who had bot tested at the Spanish circuit, were a country mile ahead of the pack and leapt away as the light went out.
They immediately pulled a gap on Ben Spies, Dovizioso and Crutchlow and Pedrosa left it lap four before he passed Lorenzo on the brakes and then put in a disappearing act, leaving Lorenzo to lap on his own. The Yamaha man had one huge near-crash trying to catch his compatriot but just didn't have the pace.
Meanwhile, Dovizioso passed Spies for third and the American then found himself behind Crutchlow who was desperate to get his second podium of the year. Despite trying twice to pass the Italian at the chicane, Crutchlow just couldn't get ahead and was only a tenth of second in arrears at the chequered flag.
Gresini Honda's Alvaro Bautista finished in sixth place with Jonathan Rea having another lonely race in seventh. Valentino Rossi recovered from two off-track excursions to bag eighth. Karel Abraham and Aleix Espargaro completed the top ten. Randy De Puniet was second CRT man home with James Ellison just losing out to Yonny Hernandez late on.
Rookie Stefan Bradl crashed out of third place early on and Nicky Hayden was taken to the medical centre after he was pitched over the barriers in the opening laps.
