Repsol Honda MotoGP rookie Marc Marquez finished the final day of testing at the new Austin circuit more than half a second faster than team-mate Dani Pedrosa.
The Spanish wunderkind not only stayed on track until the chequered flag came out, he asked for more time to add to his 60-lap tally for the day, which culminated in a 2'03.281 compared to Pedrosa's 2'03.898.
"This final day has been good for me. From the beginning I had the same feeling as yesterday and especially this morning we started to try some technical settings for the first time and we found some big improvements. After lunch we were considering a race simulation but in the end we spent the time working with the electronics," said Marquez.
"It's been important to come and test here as we will be here for the second race. It's quite a physical track - especially the first sector - but in the end, we now know the track a little and we have a good base for when we come here for the GP."
Pedrosa had spent a lot of the day tinkering with his seamless-shift gearbox setting but to be six-tenths in arrears says something about the one-lap pace of his younger team-mate. Pedrosa was also complaining about having a stiff neck, only doing 24 laps.
LCR Honda man Stefan Bradl reduced his deficit to a little over three-tenths to Pedrosa, and the young German's time of 2'04.225 puts him ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi on the overall sheet.
