Mar-Train Yamaha's Stuart Easton was quickest across both Motorpoint British Supersport practice sessions this afternoon at Knockhill. The wee Scotsman was joint quickest with Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson in this morning's overcast session, before going half a second quicker this afternoon in improved conditions.
Easton's fastest laptime of 50.087 seconds was just over a tenth of a second quicker than the reigning British Supersport champion, Glen Richards. The Adelaide rider didn't have similar fortunes this morning, however, with his Smiths Triumph setting on fire for the second time this year after his Thruxton blaze. The Gearlink Kawasaki pair of Ben Wilson and championship leader Alastair Seeley finished the session in third and fourth, just under half a second adrift of the Easton's benchmark.
Second of the Smiths Triumph's riders, Billy McConnell, enjoyed a more successful session this afternoon, finishing fifth quickest, after the Australian endured some engine troubles this morning. Graeme Gowland was sixth quickest, ahead of the Triumph duo of Scott Smart and Luke Mossey, with the top eight covered by 1.002 seconds.
Profile Triumph's Luke Stapleford was ninth quickest ahead of Easton's Mar-Train teammate, Glenn Irwin. TAG Triumph's Richard Cooper could only manage eleventh after a crash at the Scotsman just ten minutes into the second session. Jake Dixon was the quickest of the cup competitors ahead of Taylor Mackenzie, whose Tyco Suzuki suffered technical problems in this morning's first session.
David Paton and Sam Hornesy finished fourteenth and fifteenth quickest, with Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran only managing thirteen laps after the Aussie suffered a big crash in this morning's practice session, resulting in a trip to the Medical Centre but the Honda rider was given the all clear.
