Knockhill BSB: 'Areas to work on' for Lowes

Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes topped the MCE British Superbike free practice time-sheets this morning before having to settle for second behind championship leader, Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki's Shane Byrne in this  afternoon's free practice outing, but is still full of confidence going into tomorrow's qualifying sessions.

The Lincolnshire lad feels a few changes are necessary to the front end of his Honda but admitted the majority of changes are needed within himself if he is to challenge for pole position come tomorrow afternoon.

"I'm really happy. It's the track I struggled most with last year, probably my worst track so to be near enough on the pace is pretty good. I've still got a lot of areas to work on but I felt pretty good so I'm looking forward to Sunday," said Lowes, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

"I wouldn't say the test earlier in the year has given me an advantage. People like Shakey, who rode on that bike last year, know the track really well and can get down to some good times really fast so I wouldn't say there's any advantage but it obviously helps wherever you test.

"I need to ride a bit different on a few corners but just small changes really, with the front end in particular, but nothing major. I'm not too far away, I just need to make it easier to do the lap times I'm already doing."
