PBM Aprilia's Michael Laverty believes he can bag a top-ten result in Assen's MotoGP encounter tomorrow if the race is held in wet conditions.
The Irishman finished yesterday's sopping second free practice in tenth place after being as high as fourth and only slipped down the order because he sat out most of the session, coming back out for one final lap to get back into the top ten.
"I have a good feeling with the front end of the bike around here and I was passing some of the prototypes yesterday, including Bautista and Dovizioso. Lorenzo was only slightly quicker than me in some areas too, which was nice to see," said Laverty, speaking at Assen.
"Rain is always a great leveller and it helps that I know the place too. It is the first circuit we have come to that I have raced at before properly so I know my way around. I think that, given how quick we were in the wet, that we can get a top-ten results provided it is wet. The prototypes have to dial down the horsepower, so there are only two areas where they can get away when it's wet. If it's dry, then it is a different story."
