Riders BMW rider Martin Jessopp is hopeful that he will be fit enough to compete in the main MCE British Superbike races on Sunday, after struggling through the free practice sessions at Snetterton today.

The rider sustained an injury to his coccyx after crashing out in the practice sessions at Knockhill a few weeks ago, and since then the Yeovil native has been in a race against time to get fit so he is able to compete this weekend.

“After two sessions down the bottom of the pack and not where I normally am i’m just struggling and trying to ride the bike differently and trying to be a lot more smoother. But at the minute it is not really working, but I will get out there tomorrow and see if we can get a bit quicker, but the plan is to take each session as it comes,” said Jessopp, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“We will worry about Sunday when it comes, but we are trying to get out there tomorrow morning and hang on a bit more and try and get a bit closer to the times that we should be doing, and move on to qualifying, and I will have to shut my eyes and do a quick lap.”

Jessopp is still in a lot of pain, and is trying to keep his mind off his injury, but sitting down is proving rather difficult for the Englishman, especially when he is sat on a bike.

“It is pretty uncomfortable. I am pretty happy when I am walking around but as soon as I get into a race position it starts to hurt, and it is not fun and it is hard to ride around, knowing I can't crash as well, it is not really ideal. But we will be out tomorrow morning and we will see how we do.”
