Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes will start tomorrow’s opening race of the MCE British Superbike championship Showdown from the second row, after finishing this afternoon’s final qualifying session in sixth, and the Bringelly rider has been left feeling ‘frustrated.’
Brookes clocked the second fastest time in Q1, and set a lap that placed him on the provisional front row, behind Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes. But in Q3 the rider was not able to replicate the fast race pace where it mattered and now round's off row two.
It was also not a good session for Brookes’ American team-mate PJ Jacobsen. The New Yorker will start tomorrow’s first BSB race from eighteenth place after a mechanical problem forced an unexpected retirement from Q2.
Brookes and his crew will make changes to his bike tonight, with the hope that he can snatch the race win from title fighter rivals, Lowes, Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne and Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison.
“It’s a bit frustrating that we couldn’t match our Q2 time in Q3 but we’ve a few more changes to make for tomorrow’s race and a good start should see me away with the leading group,” said Brookes.
