Britain's Scott Redding had to ride through the pain of his wrist and back injuries during two days of MotoGP testing at Valencia where he made his debut on the Gresini Honda RCV1000R.
Redding did two days on the bike before he had to hand it over to Hiro Aoyama and said he was happy with the progress he made despite the pain - and said he was shocked by how small the production racer is.
"In my wrist, I was struggling with the power, I wanted more from my body. I was a but disappointed as I was getting good feedback and to have it cut short sucks a bit. I was feeling better today after sleeping on it. It's wrist and back. This circuit with all the left corners and no breaks. It kills me, it's murder, just more and more pain," said Redding, speaking at Valencia.
"We had a problem with the electronics and had to change the loom. They got that done and then the anti-wheelie and traction control started to work better which was positive and I wanted more as we were starting to go better. I need to understand my lines on this bike as I know they are not perfect. I need to see where the other guys are going.
"The Bridgestone tyre has a lot more support and strength, which is good for me. The carbon brakes are pretty good but you have to adjust a lot for temperature and I make short runs but overall I am happy.
"There were no big surprises as I had ridden a Ducati but the one big thing was the size of the Honda. It's really small but coming to Sepang, they are going to change things. They worked with Simoncelli, so they've worked with a tall rider in the past. We will see the potential at Sepang."
