Factory Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo appears to have got over his anger with Bridgestone’s 2014 spec tyres as he set the quickest time on day one of MotoGP testing at Phillip Island, chased haes by Cal Crutchlow on the Open class Ducati.
Lorenzo left Sepang in a proper mood as he couldn’t get the new tyres to work but after chopping and changing with eight different compounds at different times of the day (including the 2013) , and only doing short runs at Bridgestone’s request, he appears to have found something he likes - setting a 1’29.213.
Crutchlow was just under four-tenth slower than the former world champion with Valentino Rossi, on the second works Yamaha, third on a 1’29.730 - which is two seconds off last year’s pole time. Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso were on the bubble of a 1’30.
