Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne set the fastest time over the course of the MCE British Superbike free practice session at Knockhill today – but the rider is far from satisfied and insists that his bike still needs work and ‘big plans’ are ahead to improve even more, for qualifying tomorrow.
In the first free practice outing it was Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari who led the way, in what turned into a battle of the triple champs, with the Japanese rider having the edge this morning.
Byrne fought back and his best lap of 48.243 placed him on the pivotal provisional pole position, and even though he smashed his own lap record he is still not completely happy.
"We are happy to be fastest but we have been in a situation where normally I love riding the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki, but today I only liked riding it,” said Byrne.
“There are some areas we are working hard on as a team so we are ready for qualifying tomorrow because I didn't feel that I could push hard enough. We have some big plans.”
