Knockhill BSB: Ellison’s 100 percent podium record comes to an end

GBmoto Kawasaki’s James Ellison has hailed his MCE British Superbike weekend at Knockhill, as the ‘worst’ he has had for a long time, after he saw his 100 percent podium record come to an end.

In race one Ellison found himself challenging for a top three position, until a collision with Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton forced him to crash and his race was over.

For the final race of the day in Fife, Ellison had to start from 14th on the grid and had to fight his way through the pack to battle with the leading riders. He made a strong start and moved up to eighth.

But after a  long battle with Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Dan Linfoot he then experienced brake trouble and crossed the finishing line in eighth. With the DNF the Cumbrian slips back to third in the overall championship standings.

“It’s the worst weekend we’ve had in a long time, we’ve gone from a 100 percent podium finish to a DNF and an eighth. We had a really good qualifying but it’s all stemmed from the crash in race one,” said Ellison.

“We had to change the brakes for the second race and I just couldn’t stop. I kept losing the front and picking the bike up off my knee. We can’t win them all and everyone has a bogey weekend - and this one has been mine.”
