Buildbase BMW’s Lee Jackson is doubling up this weekend at Brands Hatch. Not only is he competing in his usual class, the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 championship, but he’s making his debut in the MCE British Superbikes category, standing-in for the injured James Westmoreland.
The youngster has labelled his maiden outing on the Superbike as ‘strange’ but felt that he has benefitted from the experience – especially when it comes to helping him with his Superstock ambitions.
“This morning felt quite strange as it was the first time that I have ridden a Superbike out on the GP circuit, but I got used to it and made a few changes. It has been a great experience and it has helped when it comes to my Superstock sessions,” said Jackson, speaking to bikesportnews.com and the circuit.
"I think it can help my Superstock qualifying. When I was in the qualifying sessions I was straight out of the starting blocks because I had chance to go out on the Superbike earlier in the day – as usually it takes me a while to get used to riding a circuit. So riding the Superbike has been really beneficial.
"I am aiming to be finishing in the points on Sunday in the Superbike race, as I think that will be a great achievement. But I think this is great experience for me and I am looking forward to race day already.”
