Britain’s Scott Redding thinks his Open class Go&Fun Honda will be at a distinct disadvantage at this weekend’s Silverstone MotoGP round but wants to try and mix it up with some of the lower-order Factory bikes.
As always, his goal is to be the fastest Production Honda - although Leon Camier might have something to say about that - but he is acutely aware that the Northamptonshire has fast corners and long straights.
“My goal for Silverstone is the same as every weekend – to be the best Open Honda. If I can mix with some of factory bikes I will. I think we’ll be at a disadvantage at Silverstone because there are many straights and fast corners,” said Redding, speaking to bikesportnews.com
“The short circuits, like Sachsenring, with first, second and third gears, we’re not bad, but when you go from third to sixth gear, we have quite a big disadvantage. Somewhere like Silverstone, many corners you come on with third; we’re going to lose out all the way down the straight so it’s going to be difficult there.
“After the summer break at Indy I managed to finish the race just behind Crutchlow, which was good. Through the weekend we were sometimes faster than him and Alvaro. If I can progress this way, always to be the top Open Honda, and if, like I said, I can be in front of one or two factory bikes, this is always good.”
