Britain’s Leon Camier had a disappointing end to his Silverstone MotoGP debut weekend as brake fade meant he was off his own pace and he finished just outside the points in 16th.
The tall Andorra resident said he felt there was something wrong on the sighting lap and nearly ran off the track but added it was the first time he had experienced the problem since he first jumped on the Drive M7 Honda at Indianapolis.
“On the sighting lap I felt something was wrong with the brakes, they didn’t slow me down like normal. I nearly ran off the track then. I made a good start with some good passes and then I knew something wasn’t right for sure. I keep running deep and couldn’t do what I wanted,” said Camier, speaking at the track.
“Then the lever started coming back to the bar and it took a couple of laps to sort that out. I had change my style to compensate which was frustrating. I feel like I am not riding like I can and just getting around the lap.
“I’ve not had a brake fade problem at all since I have been riding the Honda and then I go and get one in the race. There was definitely something wrong for sure. We are missing something, we need to go testing and make some changes on the bike.”
