PBM’s Michael Laverty says he is happy enough with his home MotoGP performance at Silverstone after just missing out on a points finish.
The Irishman got away well at the start and was able to hang with Leon Camier on the production Honda but then grip from the rear tyre started to elude Laverty, so he dropped off the pace.
"I was happy enough with the result. We got a good start and on the first lap there were four Brits together including Scott Redding, Cal Crutchlow, Leon Camier and myself. I tried to stay with them but eventually the grip I had started to diminish so I had to let them go,” said Laverty.
“Leon had a three second gap on me but I just couldn't get back at him as the harder I tried the more mistakes I made. The race pace was good, I'm happy with 17th but points would have been nice."
