Silverstone BSB: Smrz still out of action

Millsport Ducati’s Jakub Smrz will not race at this weekend’s MCE British Superbike round after making a decision with the team to not take any unnecessary risks.

The Czech Republic rider broke his wrist at Cadwell Park and hasn’t been in action since. He believes he could have raced at the Northamptonshire track but decided discretion was the better part of valour. It has sparked speculation that the team will not return to the series and will concentrate now on building a bike for Macau.

"After my surgery nearly five weeks ago all recovery and physio went well. I would be able to race in Silverstone but with my team Millsport Ducati we decided not to risk anything unless I'm 100 per cent healthy,” said Smrz.

“I am very happy I recovered in such a short time but still need couple of weeks and physios not to have any limitations on race bike. I'd love to go racing again but fully agree with my team Millsport Ducati that there is no reason to risk another injury or to race and not to be able give the best possible performance.”
