Milwaukee Yamaha’s Tommy Bridewell has had a ‘massively up and down season’ but he topped it off with high after he beat his team-mate Josh Brookes to snatch third in the overall MCE British Superbike championship standings.
The Devizes swearbox finished the final race of the day at Brands Hatch in third, which was enough to secure the final step on the podium in the series, behind Kiyonari and Byrne. There was only one point separating Bridewell and Brookes for the number three spot going into the final round, and even though the rider finished behind Brookes in race two, he still did enough to clinch third.
It hasn’t been an easy season for Bridewell as he has crashed many times - but he as made it on to podiums and has won races. but he has stepped up his training and remained focused, and now the hard work has definitely paid off.
“We have had a massively up and down season, but it has been really difficult. But I have been keeping my head down and stepped up my training, and I have been working hard and I have kept focus,” said Bridewell, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.
“Coming into the final round there were only a couple of points separating me, Josh and Dan and it was made apparent that Josh was going to be the harder one to beat for sure – but Dan also rode fast. But we did it, and all credit to Milwaukee Yamaha for their help.”
