Donington Park has hosted at least one round of the British Superbike Championship every year since the inaugural season in 1996, with the exception of 2009 when no round was held.
The first round took place in April 1996 with the races being won by Niall Mackenzie and Terry Rymer.
Shane Byrne has won the most races at Donington with eight victories, followed by Niall Mackenzie (6), John Reynolds (6) and Ryuichi Kiyonari, Michael Rutter and Chris Walker (4 each).
Reynolds has taken the most podiums (16) followed by Byrne (15), Walker (10), Mackenzie and Leon Haslam (both 9) and Kiyonari, Rutter, Sean Emmett and Steve Hislop (all 8).
Out of the 2017 field, five riders have previously won BSB races at Donington – Byrne (8), Haslam (2), James Ellison (2), Josh Brookes (2) and John Hopkins (2).
Shane Byrne won both races in 2016 – the other podium finishers were Leon Haslam and Jason O’Halloran (race one) and Dan Linfoot and Christian Iddon (race two).
Byrne also led the most number of laps (27) followed by James Ellison (9) and Leon Haslam (4).
Byrne took the maximum number of points (50) with Linfoot (29), Peter Hickman and Christian Iddon (24) and James Ellison (22) the next highest points scorers.
The fastest lap recorded over the weekend was by Leon Haslam in Superpole at 1’28.275s, 101.43mph.
The fastest race lap was set by Shane Byrne at 1m28.896s, 100.72mph in race two – this is the current BSB lap record.
However, the ideal lap – taken from the best five sector times over the course of the three days – was 1m27.962s, 101.80mph.
The best sector times were recorded by John Hopkins (sector 1), Leon Haslam (sectors 2, 4 and 5) and Richard Cooper (sector 3)
The fastest speed recorded through the speed trap all weekend was by Glenn Irwin, in Q1, at 167.3mph.
Two riders will make their BSB debuts at Donington this weekend – Davide Giugliano and Bradley Ray.
In the Supersport class, Tarran Mackenzie is the first reigning champion to defend his title since Glen Richards in 2013.
