Factory Ducati’s Jorge Lorenzo said that he is considering sitting out of Sunday’s Thai MotoGP in Buriram after a huge FP2 highside.
The Spaniard arrived in Thailand already beaten up after his first corner crash in Aragon and his injures were made worse when a mechanical catapulted him over the top of his Desmosedici.
Lucky to escape without any more broken bones, Lorenzo did suffer heavy bruising and contusions to the already damaged right ankle and left wrist.
“It was scary, I was scared,” said the three-time MotoGP World Champion.
“I was scared about my foot, because it really hurts. I hit with the back and also with the feet. And I was rolling a lot, so my right foot was painful. Later, little by little, I understood that it didn’t get worse, so I am lucky about that.”
Clearly shaken and frustrated by the crash, Lorenzo cast doubt over if he would return to the bike this weekend.
“If you ask me now, I would say no,” he said. “The last fracture, the last injury, is a bit worse, it’s not broken but is more painful. I have a big contusion on my left wrist, and also the right ankle, another big contusion. I cannot put the foot on the ground.
“So if you ask me now, I will say no. But I don’t want to say something too quickly, so I will wait tonight, to see how I feel tomorrow morning.”
