Milwaukee Yamaha’s newest recruit Tommy Bridewell had a mixed MCE British Superbike weekend at Assen. In race one he clinched his first podium finish with his new team after crossing the finishing line in third, but tumbled out of contention for another podium after crashing in the final race of the day.
Bridewell tried to make a move on Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Noriyuki Haga and unfortunately lost the front end and gathered the former World Superbike veteran with him at Mandeveen, ending the Brit’s chance of clinching a possible victory.
Even though the rider is disappointed with falling in race two out on the Dutch track he has praised his team for their work over the weekend and is now preparing for the next round at Silverstone.
“It was a fantastic first race for me and for sure we managed to get it done. I am obviously disappointed for James as he was running well, but I saw on my board I had a gap behind me but at the end I just couldn't close the leading two,” said Bridewell.
“I had fallen asleep on the opening two laps and unfortunately I got caught up with Nori who was a bit excited so to speak. In the second race it was turning into a good fight and then I had a crash and took out Nori at the same time which was disappointing but I am looking forward now to Silverstone. Thanks to the Milwaukee Yamaha team for all their hard work.”
