Assen BSB: ‘Game plan’ pays off for Easton

Mar-Train Yamaha’s Stuart Easton took his eighth victory of the season during today’s Motorpoint British Supersport Sprint Race at Assen in the Netherlands, and in doing so succeeded in his mission of getting to the front and eventually winning the first race of the weekend.

The Scottish ace took charge of proceedings at the head of the field as early as the third lap, and despite some strong opposition from Oxford TAG Triumph's Richard Cooper in the closing stages, Easton held on for the win and twenty five valuable championship points.

He now leads main championship rival Gearlink Kawasaki’s Alastair Seeley by twenty-two points with just five races remaining; but the Hawick rider will be working with his team tonight to try and go even faster tomorrow.

“The game plan was certainly to get to the front and control the race and I think we did that quite well. The Mar-Train Yamaha also worked really well in today’s race, although I could hear Richard’s Triumph burbling away behind me at the end,” said Easton

“I just concentrated on getting through the fast stuff as fast as I could, and made sure not to make any silly mistakes on the other bits. I really enjoy riding the Assen circuit, but we need more of the same tomorrow. I’ll be looking over the data with Andy tonight to see if we can make any little improvements but so far so good.”
