Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes has been thrown out of the second MCE British Superbike race result at Assen as a result of his collision with series leader Shane Byrne.
Lowes was hauled in front of race direction and the stewards following the incident, which left Byrne with a gash on the back of his leg and other bumps and bruises.
After considering evidence including broadcast, CCTV and on-board footage, marshals reports, ECU data and explanations from both riders, he was excluded from the results. The right of appeal was advised to the affected parties.
The decision means that James Ellison is handed the win and 25 points. He vaults over Josh Brookes in the championship table and is now 21 points behind Byrne, who leads Lowes now by one. Brookes is three points behind the Cumbrian.
“I thought the move was OK and it was alright but when you touch someone at 130mph they go down. Shane is someone that I respect totally, he is my friend and I am not a dirty rider and I did not mean to do it. I was in a good position, he changed his line at the last minute and I hit him. It looks different, worse, when you watch it on television, but there is not much space out there. The pressure is on all the riders in these three rounds of the Showdown and everyone wants close racing," said Lowes.
