MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews says he is going to limit the amount of practice laps he does at this weekend's Brands Hatch British Superbike round to avoid injuring his scaphoid bone any further.
The Evesham man is currently returning from hospital in Belgium where he has been for a check-up on the surgery that was carried out on his left hand a few weeks ago. Andrews left England at 3am today and hopes to be back in his local gym at nine tonight.
"I have been back to Brussels and the news is good. The bone is coming along and although we have a long way to go with it, it is getting stronger every day," said Andrews, speaking to bikesportnews.com from his car somewhere in France.
"Having three races over the two days isn't ideal for me but we plan to limit the amount of laps I undertake in free practice so as not to do any further damage.
"We have a good base setting on the bike now so once I have been out and got some respectable lap times, I will come in and call it a day so I can perform properly in the three races."
