Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne insists that he is not feeling the pressure when he takes to his home circuit of Brands Hatch for the first British Superbike race tomorrow, and is aiming for his 50th win.
The local rider will start from pole, but the current champ doesn’t treat the GP circuit any differently as he wants to win at every track. Clinching a victory on Sunday is important to Byrne but he still feels improvements can still be made to his bike before the warm up session in the morning.
“There has been quite a lot made and said about Brands Hatch because it is my home race, but it is the same as any other track, and I love winning as much here as Donington or Snetterton. But we need to keep in mind that this is the sixth round of the championship we cant win or lose anything here it is all about going out and scoring podium credits, but it is not the be all and end all, it's not like it is the final round and one of us is going to be declared champion,” said Byrne, speaking at the circuit.
“We have worked hard this weekend on the bike and we made one change for the final session and we made a good step with the front end of the bike but the problem is that the rear cant keep up, so we are going to have to make another step in the morning warm up.
“Any of these guys could win a race, but the reality is that we all end up on the front row, and if I get pole then that is a bonus, but a front row is more than efficient. I would like to take 50 wins here, and try and win both races but all the guys are pushing hard and I will be working hard in the morning warm up to be there or there a bouts.”
