Haribo Triumph's Joe Collier took his maiden victory in the British Championship this afternoon at Brands Hatch in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 race, fighting past Jordan Simpkin with just three laps remaining.
Collier took the holeshot from second on the grid and began to pull away from the chasing field, before Simpkin fought his way through and chased down the Haribo liveried Triumph ahead of him. The duo pulled out an advantage of over two seconds as SImpkin slipped past Collier to take lead at Paddock Hill Bend.
Go-Racing Developments Kawasaki rider Matt Ogden moved through into third and set the fastest lap of the race as he closed down the gap ahead of him. However, half way through the race, Ogden pushed the front end of his Kawasaki too hard through Druids hairpin and consequently crashed out, promoting former British 125 Champion James Lodge into the final podium place.
Leicestershire rider Collier, followed Simpkin for the majority of the race but made his move with three laps remaining, taking advantage of Simpkin getting held up by back-markers. He moved through on the brakes into Paddock Hill Bend and despite Simpkin's best efforts, Collier was able to hold on to take his first British Championship victory.
Moto-Breakers Kawasaki's James Lodge held on take third, ahead of Tim Hastings, Manxman Callan Cooper and Niall Campbell. Team Green Racing's Tom Fisher lead home a big battle for seventh, beating Mark Wilkinson, Levi Day and Michael Robertson to the nine points for seventh.
