Brands BSB: Easton clinches first Supersport encounter

Mar-Train Yamaha's Stuart Easton stormed to his fifth Motorpoint British Supersport victory of the year in spectacular fashion, diving under the inside of title competitor Alastair Seeley at the last corner of the last lap.

Seton Yamaha's Graeme Gowland took the holeshot from pole position but the Northumbrian didn't hold on to it for long, with Scotsman Easton diving through to take the lead after starting from the second row of the grid.

Easton taking the lead caused a response from championship leader Alastair Seeley as the Gearlink Kawasaki rider quickly moved past Jason O'Halloran and then Graeme Gowland to take second. The duo began to battle at the front before they were joined by Gearlink's Ben Wilson. With five laps remaining, Seeley made his first move for the lead as he slipstreamed his way past Easton to take the lead.

The Northern Irishmen was unable to hold on for long, however, with first Easton and then his team-mate Wilson pushing past him at Paddock Hill Bend to demote him to third. Wilson ran wide allowing Seeley to take second back and the following hairpin of Druids.

It came down to the last lap and Seeley moved early, passing Easton on the brakes into Paddock Hill Bend and it looked like a tough ask for Easton to claim victory with Seeley running tight, defensive lines at every corner. Easton found enough room at Sheene Curve to dive through but Seeley retaliated immediately, diving under the inside at Stirlings to leave one corner remaining.

The pair were side by side on the run into Clearways but Seeley, with the inside line, ran in too deep, handing victory to Easton on the drag to the flag. Wilson held off Gowland to take third and the final podium spot by just 0.099 of a second.

Samsung Honda's O'Halloran took fifth ahead of Jake Dixon and Billy McConnell, with Richard Cooper bettering Glen Richards to take eighth place, in a top nine covered by less than two seconds. Rounding out the top ten was KGD Honda's Luke Jones.
