Milwaukee Yamaha rider James Ellison certainly made up for the disappointing mistakes he made in race one with a much needed win and a top spot on the podium in the second MCE British Superbike race at Brands Hatch Indy circuit this afternoon.
Earlier in the day he received a penalty for an unauthorized movement on the grid, which resulted in a ride through. Race two was much better and the Ellison of old made a come back on the track today. But even though the Cumbrian was obviously pushing out on the tarmac, he even surprised himself with his race two result.
“It was really disappointing in the first race, as I didn’t have chance to show what I can do, and I thought if I can get a good start in the second race then I knew I could do well. I was surprised with what I got away with in the race, but I really enjoyed the race and being out with the guys," said the Kendal man.
Ellison and his team will travel to Thruxton next week, for the second round of the championship, but Ellison is still nervous about the season ahead, and still does not feel fully prepared.
“We are all a bit on edge still, especially when you are fighting for the championship you must come prepared, and it doesn’t matter how much time you spend going to the gym, you need time out on the bikes. Unfortunately the days of testing that had been put on was too cold, so everyone is a bit under prepared I think, and I think that showed, as everyone was quite erratic. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief and get on to Thruxton.”
