Samsung Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari failed to emulate his podium success from race one in the final MCE British Superbike race at Brands Hatch, after a setup gamble failed to pay off for the triple champion.
Kiyonari made some alterations to the front end of his bike, but it did not materialise for the better as he was not able to fight for a podium alongside team-mate Alex Lowes and had to settle for fifth, behind Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes.
The big change did not have a positive effect on Kiyo, but the rider is adamant that he had to try a new setup to see if it would make the bike faster, but he has learned from this and is now looking ahead to the next round at Oulton Park.
"In the first race I was lucky and very happy, and was able to keep up with Josh, Alex and Shakey, and make the most of Shakey crashing out. In the second race I made quite a big change to the front side of the bike and it was not for the better. But you have to try these things otherwise you don't know. TIt was not good, but now I have got some good information to push us forward to Oulton Park," said Kiyonari, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.
