Brands BSB: Gowland claims Supersport pole

Seton Yamaha's Graeme Gowland claimed his first Motorpoint British Supersport pole position of the year this afternoon at Brands Hatch. The Northumbrian was unrivalled throughout the session after championship leader, Alastair Seeley, crashed out half way through.

Gowland took provisional pole early in the session and was unmatched up until the chequered flag came out. He improved his time lap after lap, before setting his fastest of 1'28.380 with five minutes remaining, to secure his first supersport pole position since Oulton Park back in 2010.

Cup rider Jake Dixon looked to have secured a second spot on the gird but with the flag out, Samsung Honda's Jason O'Halloran set a lap of 1'28.583 to take second by just 0.026 of a second. Nevertheless, it is still the first Supersport front row of the seventeen year old's career.

Despite crashing out at Druids half way through the session, Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley was able to hold on to a front row start. Adelaide rider Billy McConnell heads the second row in front of Stuart Easton and Taylor Mackenzie who both jumped on to the second row with their last lap of the session. Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson resolved setup issues from this morning's free practice session to secure eighth on the grid.

Reigning champion Glen Richards will front the third row of the grid ahead of fellow Triumph rider Luke Stapleford, the Ten Kate prepared Honda of Luke Jones and T3 Racing's Rob Guiver.
