BRANDS BSB: GUINTOLI SETS DEBUT POLE POSITION

Worx Suzuki's Sylvain Guintoli has set pole postion at his debut British Superbike race at Brands Hatch this afternoon setting his fastest time in the third session on only his second lap.
HM Plant Honda's Steve Plater, who was in danger of not making it into the third and final session after a crash in first round, was second fastest just 01.121s off the pace while Hydrex Honda's Stuart was a further tenth of a second back. Easton's team-mate Karl Harris rounds out the front row.
Superpole Three
Sylvain Guintoli 0’45.944s
Steve Plater 0’46.065s
Stuart Easton 0’46.112s
All eyes were on Guintoli who on his first lap set a time of 46.1s followed by a 45.9s a lap later.  Steve Plater pushed ahead of Stuart Easton to take second near the end of the session.
Easton stopped his third position being taken from Karl Harris who is determined for a better year.  Leon Camier had to settle for fifth ahead of his team mate that found some positives to finish seventh.
It was an uneventful last session but a positive start for the majority of newcomers to the category, with six of them appearing in the top ten.
Superpole Two
Sylvain Guintoli  0’45.956
Stuart Easton 0’46.083
Leon Camier 0’46.200
The session was off to an interesting start with Camier’s bike stalling, but fortunately the problem was fixed allowing him to return to track and take pole position temporarily. It is thought that Camier pressed a button on his Marelli dash he sholdln't have.
There were a couple of late joiners to the session, Chris Walker however recovered to make it through to the next round.  Simon Andrews who had seven minutes on track, claimed 15th by the end of the session.
Guintoli’s talent started to really show as he took pole away from Camier with three minutes to go with a 0’45.9s.  Things started to improve for James Ellison as he was back at the top end of the timing sheets.
Chris Walker used his experience to jump into fifth place with only 10 seconds of the session remaining securing his place in the final round.  Michael Rutter was not so fortunate this time round as he 13th overall.

No cup riders made it through to the final round with Gary Mason and Tom Tunstall falling down to 12th and 18th.

As riders began their first qualifying lap the session was red flagged due to wild card rider and former Team Green Kawasaki racr Tim Bourne crashing on Cooper Straight.  The session continued with just over 22 minutes remaining.
Camier took the top position at the beginning of the session and held it for majority of the three stages of qualifying sessions.  Guintoli immediately started to make his mark and use his MotoGP experience.
Michael Rutter seven minutes into the session returned to the pit to change his tyre, which benefited him as he jumped up the order and got through to the second round.
Easton and Harris continued with their strong performances with the experienced riders Glen Richards and Steve Plater giving them something to worry about.  Plater had secured fifth position before crashing out with five minutes to go.
James Ellison troubles continued at first as he battled to stay within the top 20, before moving up the order and showing why he is a factory rider.  Gary Mason continued to be the lead cup rider with Tom Tunstall second and also in the top 20.
