Brands BSB: 'I want to be in the championship next year' - Parkes

ePayMe Yamaha’s newest recruit, Broc Parkes wants to prove himself at this MCE British Superbike round at Brands Hatch, as he wants to be in the championship next year.

The World Endurance star is fresh from the Suzuka-eight-hours and still has commitments with his Yart Yamaha team, who are joint second in the series but his goal is to come back to BSB in 2017.

Parkes has replaced Stuart Easton in Tommy Hill’s ePayMe garage and in the second free practice session at the GP track he went eighth quickest with a 1’26.074 on the R1. Now he hopes the sunny and dry weather conditions remain for the rest of the weekend with the aim of impressing his team and fans in the races on Sunday.

“I am hoping to do four rounds because I have commitments with World Endurance and I have a contract with that and there are two clashes which are Cadwell and Donington. In the endurance side of things we are second in the championship and have a chance to win and it would be nice to win that and we have a solid team,” said Parkes, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“In the morning we ran one tyre to do more laps and in the afternoon we started again on used tyres and started to work towards the race and at the end we put a tyre in and went into the top ten.”

At the round at Snetterton the Australian suffered a fall during the opening race and injured his ribs, but he is now 90 percent fit and feels no issues when out on track onboard the Yamaha.

“It is so tight at the top too, I am really happy and I am thankful to Tommy for giving me another chance and I want to be in BSB championship next year and I need to prove to everybody and the team that I should be here and the plan is to get a good qualifying and race good and try and be at the top pointy end of the field. Hopefully we can get some good results. I am 90 percent back to full fitness and on track there is no problem and I am ready to fight.”
