STP Motorsport's Chris Burns goes into this weekend Brands Hatch British Superbikes finale full of confidence after successfull testing a load of trick new parts for his MV Agusta.
With final positions in the daily Star Superbike Cup still to be finalised the STP Motorsport MV Agusta team will be pushing right to the very last lap at Brands Hatch to gain as many valuable points as possible.
If other results go their way the team is confident that Chris Burns and the MV Agusta can gain sufficient points to take third place in the Cup, which would be just reward for the efforts of the entire team this season.
In order to help secure these vital points the MV Agusta F4 1000 has undergone further weight reduction. Since Silverstone a number of new magnesium components and a kit generator have been fitted. Having received special dispensation from Series Director, Stuart Higgs, the team also tested some other developments at Brands Hatch last Friday.
“The addition of the magnesium frame sides and triple clamp along with the kit generator have reduced the bike’s weight by about 5.5 kilos, which is making it much easier to handle," said Burns.
"Considering the challenges that were put in front of us at the start of the season, we have had some tremendous results and I will be looking to continue the record of a podium in every race that we have completed.
"I hope that our results this season have made one or two people sit up and take notice of what this team from South Wales is achieving, with a bike that most people dismissed as having no chance of winning.”
Jon Strike, Team Principal, added: “It is a fantastic feeling to have got to this stage in the Championship and to have achieved all that we have on an extremely limited budget and in the face of some stiff opposition.
"To have taken four race wins and numerous other podiums is a great achievement and gives us encouragement to continue developing the bike over the winter and come back next season with a real chance of taking the Superbike Cup title for MV Agusta. Hopefully, we can find some additional financial backing that will make this task that much easier.”
