Moto Rapido Ducati’s Danny Buchan was the third fastest rider in the second MCE British Superbike free practice session at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, and improved on his time set in FP1 by nearly one second this afternoon, after his team made a change to the steering angle on his Panigale.
His crew made the decision to change the angle after feedback from the Essex lad and in turn the development helped Buchan to conquer some front grip issues that he experienced in the opening session, at the Kent track.
Buchan had to miss the races at the last round at Oulton Park as he was recovering from concussion after a crash, now he is back at his local circuit and his team are working on getting the bike more stable, but his crew are adamant there are still improvements that need to be made.
“Danny gave us some really good feedback from FP1, and going in to FP2 we changed the steering angle of the front of the bike to help him with some front grip issues, and also to help him feel a bit more comfortable and that was pretty much it,” said Moto Rapido Ducati Team Manager, Iain Hopcroft, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
“After his big crash at Oulton Park - getting him a bit more stable and getting confident on the bike seemed to work. There is still a lot more to improve on and if we get the same kind of weather that we had today then that could be nice as it is not too hot and not too cold.”
