Gearlink Kawasaki's Alastair Seeley clawed back fifteen points on Motorpoint British Supersport championship leader Stuart Easton this afternoon with a second place finish.

The Northern Irishman is on pole for tomorrow's feature race and will be favourite to claim the championship if the weather remains wet. In 2011 Seeley went into the final Supersport race four points behind Ben Wilson and went on to claim the championship, tomorrow he goes into the race four points behind Stuart Easton. He will be hoping fate is on his side once again.

"We knew coming into this weekend that the weather would play a part, if it was raining or not. It took us a while to find a good setup but in the race, after it taking me a while to get a feel for the conditions, we were rattling off fast laps, in fact we're on pole for tomorrow which is good, and we gained quite a few points on Stuart in the championship too," said Seeley, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"In this sport it's the same old saying, 'it's not over til it's over'. Two years ago I went into that last race four points behind Ben Wilson in the championship and it's winner takes all. If it's dry tomorrow we have good pace from the August meeting, if it's damp and wet, like it was today, we also have good pace. I'm sure both garages will be having a good think tonight about tomorrow's strategy.

"I knew what I had to do and it would have been nice to take maximum points but the way Richard Cooper has been riding this weekend it was always going to be a tough ask, he's on fire. The tyres were starting to move around at three quarters race distance, especially the front at Paddock Hill and Druids and I didn't want to go down, I knew that would've been game over. So I calmed it down in them areas and brought it home for second. Good points on the board, I don't know where Stuart finished but there's four points in it. All to play for."
