Seton Yamaha's Sam Warren laid down another gauntlet for this afternoon's British Supersport qualifying session as he was once again the quickest around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. His time of 47.286 was just 0.003 seconds quicker than the second-placed Glen Richards, closing the gap from half a second in Friday's free practice session.
Third was the Gearlink Kawasaki of Ben Wilson who managed to beat Jack Kennedy’s time of 47.808 on the last lap of the session. Fifth and the best of the cup competitors was Luke Jones but he managed just 12 laps after the rear boot of his T3 Racing Triumph became unusable. Team-mates Christian Iddon and Richard Cooper were sixth and seventh, followed by second of the Cup riders, Glenn Irwin.
Luke Mossey was ninth after the engine of Smiths of Gloucester Triumph blew up in Free Practice 1. Dan Copper rounded out the top ten who were all within one second of Sam Warren’s fastest time.
Back from his FIM Superstock 1000 ride in Imola, Kev Coghlan was 11th on the Appleyard/Macadam R6. Rounding out the top fifteen were Billy McConnell, Jimmy Hill, Dean Hipwell; returning from breaking his arm at Brands Hatch last year, and Sam Hornsey.
